Trofin Vital® Nutritional Supplement
Anemia is one of the health problems that most affects the general population, particularly pregnant women, the elderly and children.
The prevention of iron deficiency anaemia has been a WHO priority for over a decade and nutritional strategies for its prevention should be applied to risk groups.
Dietary iron intake should be adequate to maintain micronutrient homeostasis, taking into account age, physiological condition and gender. In addition, to prevent iron deficiency anaemia, the bioavailability of iron must be taken into account, which will depend on several factors. Among them, diet is one of the most important factors, since both the iron content in foods and the nature of the iron will determine its absorption at the intestinal level and, consequently, its incorporation into the body.
Iron in food comes in two forms: heme and non-heme (inorganic), with heme being more bioavailable. The latter is less bioavailable, as it interacts with food components that can limit its absorption. Therefore, it is sometimes difficult to obtain a sufficient supply of iron from the diet and supplementation is the recommended option. This product has the advantage of containing heme iron, the intestinal absorption of which is greater than that of the inorganic salts of the mineral found in most nutritional supplements.
